When Students Reach a Breaking Point

Students referred to Safe School often face:

  • Academic decline
  • Chronic absenteeism
  • Behavioral challenges
  • Social-emotional struggles

Without intervention, these challenges compound. Safe School exists to interrupt that trajectory.

More Than an Alternative School
—A Reset Opportunity

Safe School is a structured, mentor-led environment where students rebuild habits, confidence, and direction.

Every student is paired with a “Game Changer”—a mentor who provides daily accountability, guidance, and support.

What Makes Safe School Different

  • Every student has a dedicated mentor—not just supervision
  • Mentors are “credible messengers” with lived experience
  • Focus on behavior and identity, not just discipline
  • Daily reinforcement of habits, mindset, and goals

Students don’t just get monitored—they get guided.

Meet the Game Changers

The strength of Safe School lies in our Game Changers. For middle school students, a Game Changer begins as a mentor—someone steady, encouraging, and supportive who guides them through challenges with patience and care.

But what makes a Game Changer unique is that they are also a credible messenger. Having faced and overcome their own struggles, they carry the authenticity and credibility to show students that change is possible.

Game Changers embody three vital roles:

Mentor First

Providing daily encouragement, guidance, and stability that young people need most.

Credible Messenger

Using lived experience to give weight to their words and prevent students from repeating harmful cycles.

Bridge Builder & Consistency Keeper

Modeling reliability, respect, and emotional control while connecting students to families, schools, and community.

From Struggle to Second Chance

“I finally feel like someone listens to me.”
